Jury Trials and Jury Duty
Jury Trials
All defendants have the right to request a jury trial. The defendant must direct a jury trial request to the Municipal Court in a timely manner and in writing. A jury trial request should include your CURRENT mailing address, phone number, and the name of your attorney, if one is representing you. Jury trial request forms are available at the Clerk of Court’s office at the Town Hall or you may write your own request. Jury trials are scheduled as needed. All parties in the case are notified of the date and time for pre-trial motions, date and time of roll call, and the date and time of trial.
Jury Duty
Jurors are selected for one-week terms and notified by mail. Jurors must appear for roll call at the date and time specified.
If you have received a summons to appear for jury duty, please call (843) 387-5151 and leave a message indicating that you have received the summons.
If you are not able to participate in jury duty, please mail or fax a written request with supporting documentation (i.e., doctor note, airline reservations, etc.) stating your wish to be excused and the reason for your request to:
